Lymphatic Drainage

60 MINUTES $99 • 90 MINUTES $140

The Lymphatic System is vital to the health of every individual. It is integral to our immune system and a healthy lymphatic system promotes healthy body tissues and functions.

What exactly is the Lymphatic System?

Simply, it is a drainage and transport system. It transports nutrients and oxygen from the circulatory system to cells of the body. The lymphatic system collects fluid, called lymph, that contains proteins and molecular waste from cell metabolism. It filters and concentrates the lymph and returns it back to the circulatory system for elimination from the body. While the lymph passes through the lymphatic system, which includes the lymph nodes, it helps to fight infections through the formation and activation of defence cells like white blood cells.

Periodically, the lymphatic system can become overloaded, sluggish or compromised by such things as: viruses, bacteria, pollution, processed foods, food additives, allergies, food sensitivities, surgery and periods of decreased movement.

Signs of a congested lymphatic system include:

-          Fatigue

-          Swollen glands/lymph nodes

-          Puffy eyes or face

-          Swelling in hands or feet

-          Bloating

-          Headaches

-          Sinus infections, increased colds and flu

-          Dry, itchy skin

-          Soreness/stiffness on waking in the morning

-          Constipation

-          Weight gain/belly bloat

-          Breast swelling/tenderness

-          Brain fog

-          Worsened allergies

-          Lymphatic conditions such as Lymphedema

Manual Lymph Drainage to the rescue

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage performed by a highly trained therapist to stimulate the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system does not have a pump, it relies on movement of the surrounding muscles to stimulate the lymph vessels. Manual lymph drainage uses light, rhythmical hand movements to stimulate the initial lymph collectors which boost lymph output. There are over 65 conditions which MLD has proven to be an effective treatment, as well it is used with compression in the management of Lymphedema.

In 2013, Lenita completed the full 160hour Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage training. Since then, she has completed additional 20hour training sessions on the lymphatic system and MLD in 2015 and 2017 and will complete another in September 2019. Lenita is certified to handle all Lymphatic System treatments and therapies, including bandaging for Lymphedema.
